THE EIGHT ELEVEN FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES ITS 2-YEAR PLEDGE TO SUPPORT THE ARBOR DAY FOUNDATION IN PLANTING 50,000 TREES!
Indianapolis, Indiana, December 3, 2024
Eight Eleven Foundation and its family of companies have announced today that it is working with the Arbor Day Foundation throughout 2024 and 2025 to help plant and distribute roughly 50,000 trees across the organization’s 32+ markets and the continental United States.
In addition to growing the culture of sustainability within the Eight Eleven Family of Companies, the trees will help address reforestation, habitat preservation, disaster relief, and food insecurity. These initiatives could not be possible without the support of the Arbor Day Foundation’s local planting partners who will assist with the execution of various projects. Over the past 50+ years, the Arbor Day Foundation has worked to plant over 500 million trees around the world. Through a vast network of partnerships, the Foundation facilitates projects that empower organizations of all sizes to reach their environmental and sustainability goals via meaningful, measurable work.
“We are dedicated to empowering the communities we serve, whether it’s through our workforce transformation programs or supporting groups like the Arbor Day Foundation, Service is a core value of ours and something we care deeply about,” explains John Causa, Brooksource President and Eight Eleven Group’s Sustain E3 Executive Sponsor.
In 2024, the Eight Eleven Family of Companies has already directed 35,243 of its 50,000-tree pledge to restore the Gulf Coast region. The Gulf Coast has a rich and diverse history, where reliance on healthy habitats and natural resources often defines the communities themselves. A vast collection of organizations and initiatives are working together to increase the biodiversity and resiliency of the region.
The reforestation efforts are focused on bottomland hardwood, upland longleaf pine, and pine forest restoration throughout the Gulf Coast. Replanting efforts here are balancing human resource needs, environmental stewardship, and natural disaster recovery. A mix of pines and hardwoods is being planted on public and private lands to improve watershed function. These trees will restore natural hydrologic cycles, improve water quality, and reduce erosion and sedimentation in area waterways. Downstream, that will mean healthier habitat for fish, mussels, crawfish, oysters, gulf sturgeon, and manatees. A wide array of land-dwelling animals will also benefit from improved habitat, including gopher tortoises, eastern indigo snakes, and endangered red-cockaded woodpeckers.
