INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Last Friday, Eight Eleven Group, the parent company of the Eight Eleven family of companies, was recognized at the Indiana Business Journal’s HR Impact Awards 2023 celebratory breakfast as an HR Impact Award 2023 Honoree for Training & Professional Development. This is the second year of the award program, and the first time Eight Eleven Group (EEG) has been recognized. EEG was specifically recognized for its Eight Eleven University and Eight Eleven Gold programs.
HR Impact Awards
The Indianapolis Business Journal (IBJ) started the HR Impact Awards to honor the hard work of businesses from all industries, as well as the specific human resources professionals and teams behind them. You can learn more about the other honorees recognized in each of this year’s four categories: Diversity and Inclusion, Talent Recruitment, Employee Experience, and Training and Development, here.
Building a Foundation of Success
“Part of what makes the Eight Eleven family of companies so successful is that we truly invest in the growth and development of our employees at every stage of their career with us”, shared Julia Lindenschmidt, the Director of Professional Development at Eight Eleven Group. “From the moment they walk into our national HQ for our week-long New Hire Onboarding to our Emerging Leadership Training, which preps individuals for potential leadership roles, and our more advanced Eight Eleven University and Gold programs, we have provided the foundation for success in our employees' professional and personal lives.”
Launched in 2013, the Eight Eleven University (EEU) program is a professional development initiative centered around Eight Eleven’s six core values of Family, Opportunity, Innovation, Service, Passion, and Grit. If they wish to complete the program, an employee must accomplish 36 total benchmarks that blend job-relevant training with soft skills development and culture enrichment activities. Each core value has six tasks that share their respective core value as a common theme.

Instead of focusing on just the business side of one’s professional development, the EEU program incorporates a wide range of tasks that encourage employees to branch out of their core roles and become more involved with the many opportunities the Eight Eleven family of companies has to offer. From job shadowing other departments to bringing a coworker to a service event, the EEU program creates well-rounded future leaders. This is a fitting goal, as the Eight Eleven family of companies takes immense pride in its organic growth of hiring only from within for leadership roles.
Professional Development is a Journey
“Professional development is a journey, and so we not only want to encourage our employees to grow but also provide the framework for them to do so” shares Julia Lindenschmidt. Upon graduating from the initial EEU program, each graduate gets to spend a personal day shadowing Ryan Hasbrook, CEO, and Jeff Weiser, CFO of Eight Eleven Group. Past graduates have used this time to get career advice, pitch possible business ventures, and much more. In addition to this unique experience, all EEU graduates also participate in the organization’s annual homebuilding trip to Mexico as the final step in the program, where they spend a long weekend building houses for families in need. The philanthropic event is possible thanks to a partnership with Homes of Hope, through which we have built a total of 13 homes since 2013.

Throughout the years, the EEU program has experienced its own growth and development. Additional EEU boards with their own unique tasks have been created to account for the various roles and organizations in the Eight Eleven family of companies. In 2023, the EEU Gold program was established to encourage previous EEU Graduates to continue growing and developing. While the initial EEU Program focuses on developing future leaders, the EEU Gold program strives to encourage our best and brightest employees (EEU Graduates) to continue to pour into those around them, by mentoring their fellow employees, giving back their community, and leading innovation within our Eight Eleven Culture. This further highlights the Eight Eleven family of companies’ commitment to growth and investing in their employees.
